Week 48 started with English lessons guided by Dave. The children started with some fun tongue twisters to warm up their English. The main focus of the lesson was working with imperative verbs(bossy verbs) so the children could understand about commands and prioritise actions. They finished by asking each other specific questions about their favourite hobby with the help of a questionnaire. Students enjoy speaking English more and more and it’s a pleasure to watch their growth.
Later in the week the children worked with different goals on why it’s important to have a wide range of vocabulary in English. We worked with a health and safety poster and played a game to learn some new words.
Art lesson was devoted to the solar system. Students used their creativity to make an artistic solar system working in groups of three. The children used excellent co-operation skills and divided tasks between themselves to fulfill different goals. To make sure the planets had similar colours and characteristics to the original planets, students used extra tools like the space books or the board display.
During the math lessons we have expanded our knowledge on ordinal numbers and we have been practicing our new skills by using worksheets and playing fun games. We have been focusing on mathematical tasks where the students have to understand and analyze instructions.
Students were introduced to the concept of weather and climate. We have compared two concepts and learned interesting facts about them. We extended our vocabulary with words like equator, thermometer and meteorology. Later, the students filled in a questionnaire where they had to collaborated and establish their understanding of weather.
We have used Ipads to search for weather forecasts in different countries and later, the students played the role of a weather forecast presenter. A lot of fun, excitement and useful information.
In the English classroom we have worked on an advent calendar and next week we can start the big countdown till the Christmas break and holidays.
This Friday we reflected on the past week and what have we been learning. we also set new homework and talked about some of the things we will learn about next week.
If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to email or meet with me at the school.
