Week 51 English classroom

The last week of Autumn term started with math lessons where the children practiced more with double and half of numbers, up to 40. The students enjoyed this activity a lot.

Since we finished our topic last week, we were able to focus on preparation for the Wednesday show “En resa till rymden”. We have worked hard on finishing decorations and props. The children have worked hard and have been practicing a lot with their lines.

We managed to find some extra time  to discuss the results of our observations of the moon phases. Filling them in and observing the moon was great fun for the students and they enjoyed sharing their thoughts about it.

In English the children worked a lot with (ing) and how we put it on the end of verbs to structure sentences properly. They also had a lot of fun playing charades using some of these words. They finished off the weeks English , making gift certificates for their parents and they had a great discussion about some things they could do over Christmas to help their families.

Wednesday was devoted to our show “En resa till rymden”. Firstly, we had a general rehearsal with our tags and masks on, in our fully decorated room. Later, students performed the show in front of  a preschool audience. It was an emotional experience for second grade and the rest of the day in the English classroom was focused on reading and finishing tasks from previous lessons.

I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2016!
